Check your website the way a customer sees it.
Type your web address. In under a minute you get a plain list of what a customer would run into on a phone, and how to fix each thing, whether or not you ever hire us.
- Your security certificate has expiredVisitors get a warning page before they see your site.
- Your phone number isn't a tap-to-call linkSome phones spot numbers on their own, but not all do.
- Some images are far bigger than a phone needsThe phone downloads the extra pixels, then throws them away.
- Your site has a phone layout and doesn't slide sideways
- Whether your contact form delivers messagesWe never send test messages. Send yourself one.
Example. Yours depends on your site.
What we look at.
Only what we can prove from your page, on a phone-size screen. If we can't prove it, it goes under "What we couldn't check."
Security
We try your site over https, read your certificate to see when it runs out, and look for anything on the page loading insecurely.
Phone layout
We open it at phone size, measure the text, see if people can zoom, and swipe it to find out whether it really slides sideways.
Calling
We look for your number in the page text, whether a tap calls it, and whether it shows without scrolling.
Download size
We add up what a phone has to download and point out images far bigger than they appear.
Contact
We look for email links that go nowhere, a contact page, and a form, and we try up to 10 links from your homepage.
Getting found
We read your page title and description, and look for anything telling search engines to stay away.
Stale signs
An old year in the footer, filler text, placeholder phone numbers, leftover page addresses. We label these "worth a look," because only you can judge them.
What we couldn't check
Every report ends with what it didn't cover, like whether your form delivers messages, so a clean report never reads as more than it is.
Useful even if you never call us.
Every finding says what we saw, why a customer would care, and how to fix it yourself or what to ask your web person.
An email link on your site doesn't go anywhere
- What we saw
- A link labeled "Email us" points to "mailto:#", which isn't an email address.
- Why a customer would care
- A customer who taps it gets nothing or an error, and may decide you aren't answering.
- What to do
- Point the link to your real address, written like mailto:you@yourbusiness.com. Or, if you don't want email, remove the link.
- Ask your web person
- "Please fix the email link that points to mailto:# so it opens a message to our real address."
What our checker does on your site.
It asks for your page over https and http, opens it once in a phone-size browser, reads your contact page if it finds one, and tries up to 10 links from your homepage, a second apart. It also reads your security certificate and your robots.txt.
It says who it is.
Every request is labeled "WestchesterAI site check" and includes our email address. It never pretends to be a person on a real phone.
It takes no for an answer.
It follows your robots.txt, the file that tells automated visitors where they may go. If your site turns it away or shows a security check, it stops, tells you, and does not try again.
It only looks.
It never fills in a form, logs in, or downloads files. It skips common analytics pings, like Google Analytics and the Meta pixel, so a check usually won't show up in those numbers.
We don't save your address or your report.
The report exists only on your screen. A link you share holds just the address and runs the check again. To limit abuse, the server keeps scrambled counts in its working memory for a while, and our privacy notes say exactly what. Google Analytics counts visits to this page, as it does across this site, but it isn't sent the address you check.
Questions owners ask first.
Is this really free?
Yes. No sign-up, no email, and no call to book. The report is yours to use however you like, including with your own web person.
Could a check cause trouble for my site?
It visits about the way one customer would: it opens a page or two and tries up to 10 links, a second apart. It never fills out a form or logs in.
Why don't I get a score?
A score would be a made-up number. You get what we actually saw, why a customer would care, and what to do about it.
It said your checker couldn't get in. What does that mean?
Your site, or a security service in front of it, turned away our automated visitor. That's common, and on its own it doesn't mean anything is wrong. We stop there and don't try to get around it. Open your site on your own phone to see how it treats a customer.
Why might my phone look different from the report?
We use a Chrome-style browser set to phone size. iPhones use a different browser engine, so small differences are possible, and some sites show different things to different visitors. Your own phone is always the last word.
Rather have someone handle it?
Fixes are $149 each, priced before any work starts, and nothing on your site changes until you say OK.
