A small space between the house and an old stone outbuilding, where the rain came off the roof and went nowhere. We relaid the bluestone to shed water, added a copper rain chain and planted clipped boxwood among loose switchgrass.
The boxwood holds the shape all winter. The grass moves all fall. It is the garden we show people who think a small yard has to be a tidy one.
